Big Data
Our research program has an extensive history of conducting innovative linkages of large, integrated data resources, addressing emerging topics in cancer prevention and surveillance. Through such linkages, our team has enhanced cancer registry data with additional information about treatment, tumor molecular and genetic profiles, comorbidities, recurrence and disease progression, and neighborhood and institutional characteristics.
We are currently leading an NCI-funded study in collaboration with Sutter Health and Kaiser Permanente Hawaii to quantify the burden of lung cancer among never-smoking Asian American women and to identify etiologic risk factors of this disease through the linkage of cancer registry and electronic health record data. New research areas include incorporating patient-generated health data for cancer control studies.
